Causeway Ramble – wet but worthwhile
Despite being the wettest day for our annual charity Ramble in quite a few years, Friday 17 June was memorable for all the right reasons. Having negotiated the puddles (lakes!) along the tram-trail between Bushmills and the Giant’s Causeway, our whole school mingled with visitors from across the globe at the famous stone columns of the Causeway. The rain didn’t dampen the feeling of fun and achievement as we clambered over so much geography and history.
There was time for a well-earned break back at the top of the cliffs. The new Visitors’ Centre is taking shape but some things never change....the ice-cream is still fabulous after a long walk, before setting out on the return journey. We arrived back in school tired and satisfied, having raised thousands of pounds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation. That morning in Assembly, Dr. Haugh had reminded us why we were doing such a ramble in the first place, which set us off with a spring in our step.
At the time of writing the total has reached a staggering £6,927.04! Despite the weather on the day, all the effort involved in this whole adventure was well worth it!
