BTec Health & Social Care

This qualification provides a vocational route for those who may be interest in areas such as nursing, teaching, occupational therapy, podiatry, social work, psychology, housing, sociology and criminology.

It provides an opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the health and social care sector, including factors that affect individuals’ lifestyle choices and their health.  It also allows the pupils to gain some of the practical skills identified by employers as the building blocks for future employment.

Pupils will study the following units:

  • Human development lifespan
  • Health and social care values
  • Effective communication in health and social care
  • Health living
  • The impact of nutrition on health and well-being
  • promoting health and well-being

Assessment and Grading

One unit will be externally assessed (exam) and the other five units internally assessed (assignments).
