History

Two new teachers, Mr. McClarty and Mrs. Moore, were welcomed to the department to teach Year 8 classes. Both quickly settled in and added drama to their history. Year 8 pupils were the first to undergo the new revised curriculum and the department believes that pupils were enthusiastic and felt engaged with the new sections of Family History. We also felt that the new extended project homework system was a journey of self-discovery for many pupils, as they researched family history and local events.

History continues its resurgence with 45 pupils undergoing GCSE History in 2 classes – a first for history. Open Night was a great success, with teachers and Dean Young answering questions from parents and children. Our new state-of-the-art interactive whiteboard should certainly help to bring history teaching into the 21st century over in the history department.
