Key Stage 3

Home Economics helps pupils to develop life skills through the study of 3 key concepts:

Healthy Eating 

 

Home and Family Life      

 

Independent Living

 

 

  • to enable them to lead effective lives as individuals, as family members and as members of the wider community.
  • Pupils are provided with the opportunity to work independently and with others in theory and practical lessons to develop skills of:
  • decision making, managing information, thinking , problem solving , being creative, self-management and to develop practical skills

 

Key Stage 4

Examples of GCSE Practicals for Controlled Assessment Year 12 - 2013/14

Safefood classes are offered as an after school activity, initially to the Year 11 GCSE classes and any additional places are offered to other Year 11 pupils and any Year 10 pupils who are interested in achieving a qualification.  Pupils who choose to enter the exam at the end of the course and pass it achieve a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.
