Lucy's Clean Sheets help Coleraine to the Cup

Lucy Campbell, one of our year 9 pupils, has made a big impact on the local hockey scene. Despite being only 13 she has become a key part of the Coleraine Under 15 squad - the 2015 and 2016 U15 Development Club Champions - as their goalie.

We asked Lucy to tell us about her experience.

At Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, on Sunday 10th April, eighteen clubs from across Ulster gathered to battle it out for the title of U15's Development Club Champions. In the group stages we played four matches, and I only conceded one goal [Lucy tells me that one it was offside but the umpire didn't notice] and our team scored thirteen. We beat Parkview, Armagh, Larne and Ballymena. The closest match we had was one one against Armagh, which we won 2:1. My coach said that "Lucy's save in the final seconds of the match against Armagh was crucial."

The semi-final against Ards was a hard fought match, with us winning 2:1. During that match we had to defend 5 penalty corners - so at times we had to defend harder than we had before. We held firm and got through to the final!

For the second year running we faced Grosvenor, and for the second year running we won. This time coming out with a 5:0 victory.

We are extremely proud of Lucy and look forward to following her progress in hockey and the other sports she participates in here at Dunluce.
