National Award
Second place in the UK!
A team of Year 11 students from Dunluce recently took part in the Young Direct Marketing Awards competition, which was open to all secondary level schools in the United Kingdom. Having qualified for the Final in London, our team headed for London on 12 June, where they achieved a silver award!
The pupils, Gillian Goodman, Rebekah January, Hannah Millar and Ellen Simpson, collectively known as ‘The Drama Queens’, were accompanied by Mrs. McIlveen and Miss Branagh. Their remit was to create a campaign for the Samaritans to raise awareness of its ‘Developing Emotional Awareness and Learning’ (DEAL) programme.
Mrs. McIlveen, Head of English, was very keen to get our school involved. “Such an awards scheme” she said “enables pupils to discover new interests and equips them with real-life work skills. Researching and creating campaigns for different charities has also meant that the pupils have had to get a real grip of the issues and now appreciate the importance of charity work even more. We are......delighted that our pupils’ hard work has been recognized.”
