Open Night

It was one of the biggest nights of the school year. The date was January 15th, and the whole school resounded to the sound of tramping feet and eager questions. Yes, it was time again for our annual showcase – the Open Night. Local interest was so high that, as with previous years, the Assembly Hall was filled twice over as parents of P7 pupils came to see what’s on offer here at Dunluce. We have the highest non-grammar intake in our area, and the number of people present that night is a very encouraging sign indeed!

As usual, Dr. Haugh welcomed our visitors and then made them aware of the many strengths of Dunluce. Our positive ethos and high expectations for each pupil are well-known in North Antrim. His comments were reinforced for parents and prospective pupils as they talked to staff and current pupils on their way round the school. Parents and friends who have returned with younger family members, cannot fail to have been impressed by the constant improvements that are made each year to our facilities and the range of subjects on offer.

The comments from visitors showed how much they were impressed with how bright and clean the buildings were. The pupils they met also created a lasting impression with their enthusiasm and enjoyment of school life.

Every department was represented in colourful and varied displays, with pupils acting as guides for visitors as well as demonstrating the kind of activities carried out in departments during the school week. There was so much going on it would have been hard to take it all in during one visit. I’m sure the Prospectus will help people decide that Dunluce will be a good place to spend the next five years!
