Year 11 RADAR Trip

Our Year 11 students recently enjoyed a trip to the RADAR (Risk Avoidance Danger Awareness Resource) centre in Belfast. The trip was made possible due to the generosity of the Causeway Coast and Glens Council Good Relations department.  The pupils enjoyed a varied programme of activities which challenged their attitudes to alcohol and drugs awareness, personal risk, hazard perceptions for blind people, diversity in our community and the negative effects of peer pressure.  Overall, it was a fantastic trip to enhance curricular development and the practical aspects helped to reinforce the personal safety message.  Brad: I really enjoyed the whole day.  The biggest thing I learnt is how to make decisions depending on the situation.  Craig: I enjoyed the experience and it made me more aware about drugs and drink. I would recommend this facility to others.
