Year 8 Spin a Yarn

If there's one thing we in the English Department are fairly confident of, it's that our year 8s are expert at it's telling a tall story.  But when we were offered the opportunity to teach them a few more yarns we jumped at it.

Maurice Todd, a local storyteller, kindly offered to come in and lead a storytelling session with our year eight pupils who have been studying fairy tales, myths and legends in English this term.

He told many local stories, including Fionn Maccool, and the pupils were surprised to hear tales about all sort of things; including exciting stories about ‘little folk’.

Maurice also shared a very interesting poem which was written in Ulster Scots and the pupils have been enjoying having a go at reading the poem out themselves in class!
