Year 9 Fighting Words

We were a bit concerned when we heard that some of our pupils were taking part in “fighting words” but it turns out it wasn’t what we were thinking.

The whole of Year nine traveled to Belfast to take part in a creative writing programme run by an organisation called Young at Art.  The project, Fighting Words Belfast, is a sister organisation of Fighting Words Dublin and is supported by Young at Art, Skainos, 174 Trust and it’s patrons include famous writers such as Roddy Doyle , Nick Hornby and Dave Eggers.

On the day our year 9s set out on a story-writing journey, working at first in groups and then individually to create new stories. Each left  the city as published writers with their own illustrated storybook.

Our young writers showed a lot of imagination on the day and the results of their efforts were extremely interesting.
