Staff: Mr D Lutton BMus, PGCE

All children are potentially musical.  At Dunluce school all of our pupils are given the opportunity to develop their ability in and understanding of music through listening, performing and composing activities.

All pupils have 1 period of music per week where they can explore the world of music in a practical, fun and relevant way.

GCSE music continues to be a popular and successful subject at KS4.  A course in digital music is also offered which allows pupils to develop practical skills in music technology.

Music Lessons

Throughout the year a number of pupils have been learning and developing their skill as musicians through instrumental lessons.  Pupils currently have the opportunity to learn guitar, drums, woodwind and brass with spaces open to begin lessons in September.

If you think you have a hidden talent you’d like to develop why not speak to Mr Lutton about learning an instrument next year.

Our pupils have many opportunities to be involved in performance outside the classroom.

Our school choir regularly attracts between 70-90 pupils and many other pupils perform in bands and instrumental ensembles.  This year, around 18 pupils have been developing their instrumental skills in peripatetic lessons on guitar, drums, woodwind and brass.

The annual school musical is always popular with pupils, parents and the local community and continues to showcase the amazing talent of the pupils here at Dunluce.
