We will Remember Them

Staff and pupils of our school paid their respects to those who lost their lives in the two world wars this week.

As well as holding a special assembly of remembrance some Dunluce teachers used remembrance themes in their lessons.  History and English lessons featured stories from the 1st World War.  As well as this pupils, as usual, sold poppies in aid of the poppy appeal. (the Earl Haig Fund for ex-servicemen).

On Tuesday 11th Mr Smyth went, along with representatives of our student body, to the Bushmills Royal British Legion Commemoration at the War Memorial to take part in the 2 minute silence.  Samantha Wilmot, Holly Adair, Lucas Moore, Becky Bailey, Amy Culter and John Allen represented the school as we honoured past generations.

One of the other ways Dunluce joins with the local community to mark this time is the annual Festival of Remembrance.  This event, organised by the Royal British Legion and held in the school, combines music and readings to commenorate the sacrifice made by those who fought in the great war - and subsequent wars - from the local area and beyond.
